Meridian City Hall

Integrating two-tone mahogany and pencil wood custom casework, existing furniture was enhanced with new, to insure a flawless appearance. Upon entering the space, patrons are greeted by an elegant tile design, striking wall coverings flanking the elevator entrances, and classic mahogany rail and wainscot features surrounding each public corridor. Grand columns add interest and scale and draw visitor’s eyes to the second floor balcony, adorned with glass railings. Second and third floor lobbies are graced with simplistic and charming seating arrangements to encourage employee and public gathering and interaction between departments. The use of sleek suspended ceiling and wall mounted department signage, provides way-finding and assists visitors in navigating throughout the facility. While it was a primary focus to provide materials, finishes, furnishings, and signage that would assist in obtaining LEED Certification, it was equally important that the finishes not overstate the modernistic technologies and contradict the primary design goal and should pay homage to Meridian’s historic past.
