Boise State University Student Union Dining Room Remodel

At the main dining area, wayfinding was enhanced by providing strong visual cues at main entry points with metallic clad walls which anchor group seating areas utilizing low stools behind the walls. Sheet rock ceiling lids extend to the corridor and borrow the same linear design element as the adjacent lounge wall. A secondary dining space was re-purposed into an enclosed lounge space that has a more intimate feel than the main dining area.

The new architectural elements, interior finishes and lighting, plants and furniture all come together to form a very accessible, welcoming environment that reflects the new identity of this University facility. The User’s response to the new space has exceeded the Owner’s expectations (use of the space has increased by 30% thus far this year) by providing a new home away from home for many of the campus population as well as being the hottest indoor destination for watching the big game on the new seventy-inch flat screens.
